Lilja Sigurðardóttir (born 1972) is an Icelandic crime-writer, playwright and screen-writer. Her crime-novels take place in Reykjavík city center and usually revolve around a series of murders that turn out to be linked. Personal relationships, alcoholism, faith versus religion and cooking are all key themes in her books. Her central characters are Magni Thorsson, a writer and love story translator and his former wife and police detective, Idunn Baldursdottir. Lilja´s latest novel Trapped is due in October 2015, published by (Forlagid ) publishing house. Trapped is the first crime novel in a trilogy featuring protagonist Sonia, who gets drawn into drug-smuggling in the aftermath of the financial crisis. When almost-retired customs officer Bragi gets interested in her, a cat-and-mouse chase begins so Sonia needs to constantly find new and innovative ways to get the drugs through the border.
